Default Proper distance to drag race???

I'm big into drag racing cars here at LVMS and I know that the 1/4 mile run is a great way to judge a car low end power and top end speed. My questions is, what is a good distance to race quads? A few of my friends want to race but we never know how far to go or how long to race for. We normally just run until the road runs out, but is there a distance in feet that anyone knows of that would be a good judgement on how a quad runs? I have a sportsman 700 and a buddy of mine has a scrambler 500. I can put a few lengths on him off the line but he has more top end speed (250lbs less weight with rider included)

Thanks in advance for any help.

It seems that 300 ft is the most poplar distance to run.
Personally I think that is too short to get a real race.
450 or 500 would seem better to me.

I've built a few drag motors.
300 ft is what I've always been told.
