This weekend kicks off the indoor motocross season in Northern Ohio. This weekend the Marion Coliseum will be running races in Marion Ohio. I raced at Marion a few years ago and the track is extremely tight for a quad. The soil is a very tacky clay which makes the tight corners even harder since it is difficult to slide the rear end around. But for those that want to race in the winter the choices are very few. I think the schedule is Jan. 6,7th, and 19,20,21st. In Feb. the dates are 10,11th, and 16,17,18th.

There is also indoor motocross at the Summit Co. Fairgrounds near Akron Ohio. I have raced there several times and the track is much larger and wider than the one in Marion. The dirt was also better and I thought this track was much more enjoyable to ride. The dates for Summit are Jan. 12,13,14th and Feb. 23,24,25th.

I will probably attend a few of the races at each of these tracks. I am still recovering from some injuries from a crash this fall so I will be there just to watch. Let me know if anyone will be at any of them.

Marion Coliseum - promoted by AMS 614-596-2057
Classes - quad 2-stroke, quad 4-stroke, quad pro
Entry fee - around $25 per class, has heated indoor pits

Summitt Co. Fairgrounds - promoted by Patriot Promotions 330-948-4613
Classes - quad 2-stroke, quad 4-stroke, woodsman (beginner), blaster, senior (30+), 70cc 12 and under, 90cc 15 and under.
Entry fee - approx. $25 per class, outdoor pits

I believe the only qualifications are a tether kill switch and appropriate safety gear (helmet, goggles, gloves, leather boots). If you plan on attending have fun and be safe!

Many tracks have an age restriction of 16 years old to race a quad above 90cc. I am not sure about either of these tracks. I think any leather glove will do although I would recommend wearing regular MX gloves.

blodg, do you know anything about Ohio harescrambles? that is really what i am interested in getting in is harescrambles, but haven't heard of any nearby. by the way, bought a 250x rolling chassis (new) with razrs all around, 250 r swing arms and a-arms, and stock steering stem, 250x motor on the way, i found a deal on a 400cc bore, 290 dollars for bore and stroke, 5 yr warranty, good deal?

I don't know anything about any harescramble races in Ohio since I am strictly a motocross guy. You can search the race listing for Ohio at ama-cycle.org to find out some info. Sounds like you can make the 250X into a good quad, have fun.
