Default Temperature guage for 250R

Hi, I am wondering if anyone has an opinion on the temperature guages for a 2-stoke motor. It's been 10 yrs. since I've raced and I'd never seen one. Most of the 250R's that I've seen lately have a temperature guage.

Do you think a temp. guage is really helpful/necessary or is it just a money making gadget. My 250R is a racing quad...I never had any problems with it overheating in the past.

IMO it's a good thing to have if you think your having a cooling issue.
I run the inline cooler but never had a gauge on mine.
