Hello all. Im looking to get rid of my heavy helmet, it caused me too many pulled neck muscles. I ride on a really hardcore mx track that was designed for bikes....and its sort of tuff on a quad. Anyway, im looking to get something like a AXO MM Carbon or Shoei VFXR.
Is there a difference in saftey ratings between the two? Also, Because they make a helmet light, does that mean its not as safe as heavy helmets?
I have also heard of some Kevlar helmets. What do yo you all recomend? Personally, I think spending $500 or so on a good helmet is not too much to save my brains from spilling out all over the dirt! Or trees! Or someone elses machine!
So please educate me as best as you can people.

Thanks Much.

The Fox Pilot helmets are extremely light and comfortable. They meet all DOT and Snell safety requirements.

I was a big Shoei fan of there helmets but not the price. I found that HJC made new helmet constructed of carbon fiber and man is that thing superlight so i bought it. I paid $230 for mine. Its awsome, around half the weight of most others. It DOT and Snell M95 approved.

I'll second that. My HJC AC-X1 is the bomb. I think it easily compares to helmets in the $400 range.

The cost of a HELMET is outrageous!!! I started with aN HJC because I couldn't afford some of the others.

HJC is an excellent chioce, as well as AXO.

I'll third... or fourth that... my HJC ASX-1 is one of the nicest helmets I've ever worn, and pretty cheap compared to other light weight helmets. they have really good airflow too. Another nice helmet is a Fox Pilot but its 70 bucks more.

Check Ebay. A medium carbon fiber AXO sold for $145.00 last week! That's the same helmet I want. Very strong and very light, plus carbon fiber, need I say more?
