i was wondering if any one has raced a tecate-4, i have an 88 tecate-4 with a bill's pipe and fmf silencer a keithin 39mm carb works front shocks with a reworked back shock fmf rad valve reeds and 300cc big bore kit in it but i have only talked to a couple people about tecate's on the track and they all said that it aint worth the hassel of trying to race with the 250r's...so i was wondering if any one has raced a tecate and can tell me differn't and if you think my bike should be competitive

i know a guy that raced a tecate once at a track i know and the bike didnt have all the stuff that yours does and he did good out of the hole shot and for the first lap until he got to tired because he was out of shape i think someone who knows how to ride it could be real competitive

I think as far as the motor goes it is as good as the honda 250r. I rode one for awhile and wasn't disappionted at all. That motor has the kips power valve doesn't it?

I had +3 a-arms works shocks LRD motor lonestar swingarm.switched rear rims to the honda lug pattern to run 8inch rims on the back...

yea i do have a question did u ever have a problem with like coming out of the bends and like one bend you will have awsome power and the next it will feel like theres no power at all even at the same motor rev i put new reeds in it cleaned the carb and changed the jets and it still does it....but besides that the bike is an untouchable bike

Sounds like a simple fix to me ...sounds like the mid-range is to rich try lifting the clipon the needle up 1 slot which will lower the needle into the main jet and lean it out a bit the when you grab a handfull you will rip out of the corner
