When jumping hills I know that if you want the front end to come up you rev the engine. To bring the front end down you use the brake. My question is which brake front or back?

You use the back break. When you rev it and that rear tire spins, the centrifugal force brings the rear end down. When you hit the back brake, the force stops, lowering the front end.

you can use the front or back brake, the front brake i find works better, but the back brake is usually easier to hit....when jumping, it is important to study the take off.....a steep take off, esp. a short one, will pre-load your front shocks, which will dip your front end on take off, (imagine hitting a brick wall in a truck doing 60mph, the front end smashes down, while the back end will jump up) the faster your are going on any take off, the more downforce you will have on your front end during the climb up the face, if the face is long, like say 9 or more feet, your front shocks have time to rebound, meaning your front end will come back up to almost normal ride height, when this happens, you have to let off the gas to keep it down.....my rule of thumb is, short face jumps, be on the gas hard, long take offs, let off the gas just as im leaving the lip...always be prepared if your bike should depart, meaning, do something you dont want it to do, if you short a double, be prepared to bail off the side, making sure you dont brake your ribs on your handle bars, if it gets sideways, be prepared to hold on to ride it out, or ditch it if you think it is going to go flipping......but most important, be sure you have someone filming!
