Flat trackin the Zilla

Hey people,
Im after some advice on setup for an LT500r cause im racing speedway this saturday night. Im still running the offroad tyres tho (We can get hoosier or any flatrack tyres over ere!!). Any suggestions on setup ie shock preload, tyre pressures, general setup? I dont have an anti roll bar either. The bike is basically stock except for nerfs and killswitch (and sh$t loads of power!) Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Try running about 2 pounds more pressure in your outside tires. Meaning if most of your turns are left hand as is the case in TT run more pressure on your right side tires to bring more weight to the inside and help keep you from bicycling. I dont know what pressure you should run but I woulddnt go much lower than 10lbs. psi on any tire. Also, if you could get your bike a little lower to the ground try using a tie down, strap it to the swingarm and the grab bar. It should work pretty good if you dont have any jumps on the course.

compressing suspension and then strapping it down is a very good idea, we have done this while flat tracking snowmobiles and it works very well. we cut lengths of chain and used that though as we had problems with straps fraying. you have to be carefull though because if the track you race at has rules about max widths that are allowed to be used, you may not be allowed to be race as compressing your front suspension will also make the quad wider in the front. good luck racing, i love hearing about people getting out there with their suzukis and racing.

Thanks heaps for your suggestions. how do u connect these straps to the swing arm on the suzuki. i also have a banshee and that would be easy cause its got that hoop on it. also how do u strap down the front????????i didnt think is was possible. also with the zilla is very hard to relocate the front shocks (for lower ride height) because the uncut fenders get in the way any ideas????

When we used to flat track snowmobiles we ran arctic cats, they have a dual a-arm setup very similiar to atv's. we would run a chain from a bolt on the spindle to the bulk head of the snowmobile. On your quadzilla you should probabbly run a strap as running a chain to your spindle would probabbly cause interference with your rims. i would try running the strap from the upper a-arm to the upper frame tubes by the radiator. as far as the rear suspension goes, i would not strap it down, you want rear suspension movement as a strapped rear end will break loose much easier if you hit small bumps or cracks on the track. i would just back the spring preload off all of the way. we experimented chaining the rear suspension down on our snowmobiles too but it seemed that they did not hook up anywhere near as good going around the turns. also on some really high speed ovals we would chain the left side(inside of track) front suspension down more than the outside, this will help with high-speed cornering, we used to run it anywhere from a 1/4" to 1/2" lower.
