The honest truth?
#1
I currently own a 01' raptor on alcohol, it runs pretty quick, but still not the fastest thing around. I like to jump alot though, drag racing is fun but not the ticket for me.(not all the time but sometimes). I hear everyone rave about the 250r this 250r that, it is hands down the best quad for MX. Is this completely true? I know it is lighter than the raptor, and probably even the banshee.
I am thinking about selling the raptor and getting one of the others.(banshee, or 250r). Can a banshee be set up to MX on a pretty close level with the 250r, without spending 5000 dollars in accessories? Please help me in giving your opinions on comparison of the 250r, banshee, and raptor(lets say if they all were set up about the same, or just with a set of shocks). Like I said, I want to drag race a little, and trail ride a little, and alos be able to hit some big jumps..(much bigger than the ole raptor can handle stock..).
Thanks for all of the input.....

I guess I can chyme in here. I have both(for sale), and some time, so I'll give you my HONEST opinion.
It depends on you really. Alot of guys like something they can "feel" in the air. Many Banshee riders dont like 250R's because they're too nimble. Once you get used to man-handling the Yamma, the 250 can throw you for a loop!
Me, Myself and I? 250R hands down. Mine has given me alot of problems(which are worked out now), so I havent ridden it that much, but I do have some laptimes recorded. The very 1st time I rode the 250 on a track, I was turning laps 2-5 seconds faster than the Banshee. The 250 handles like a dream in the corners. It's power-to-weight ratio, and roll-on powerband makes it very predictable, and easy to hold lines. I'm not sure if you've ever watched a Banshee in a berm corner, but the rider usually(in my case I know) steers, throttles, lets off, steers more, then gets back on the throttle. The R is point and go. You tell it what to do, and it's 1 step ahead.
If I were to make the decision today, I'd go with the R. To me, it's hands down much better than the Banshee. However, there are many people that will argue that til blue in the face. Either way, you'll be happy with both.
One more thing: It would take more money to make the Banshee "MX'able". The suspension just isnt up to par with the Honda. Now my Shee was a rocket when I added LSR +2+1 a-arms and top-of-the-line Works shocks, but my R has stock a arms, and Ohlins(in need of rebuild) shocks on the front, and the 250 still cornered and landed better.
Hope I've helped.

I agree<Ive had both(R & Shee)and for me,the R is my choice, although I do kinda still miss the Shee, both awesome quads, many aftmkt ops available but w/ the Banshee you gotta buy 2 of everything, they can be pretty lethal when set-up for mx(if you can hang-on).The R was born to race, its proven itself MX especially, good luck w/ your decision

All I gots to say is GAS GAS 300cc 2-stroke comes to America early Oct. Check your local dealer for the machine that will replace the 250r. If you want anymore info check out the GAS GAS Quad post in the cannondale Forum.

The Gas Gas quad does sound like a bad azz quad but the 250r is a proven racer.I am thinking about selling my raptor too and buying either a cannondale or 250r.Good luck on what you choose.
