Default Mount for digital camera

Hey all, I was looking around for a way to mount my Canon digital camera on my quad or helmet to do some video while out riding. I found on RAMs website that you could get a mount that will work on your handlebars or an existing RAM mount that you use for say, a GPS. RAM Mounting Systems, Inc. has the information. Go to camera mounting and you'll see the mounts. I ordered a ball mount for my camera that goes in my existing RAM mount and screws into the hole on the camera that a tripod screws into. I'll try to let you know how it works when I get a chance to try it out. The ball camera mount I bought came to less than $20 with shipping.

My wife and kids bought one of their GPS mounts for my Garmin. It doesn't really move much at all even in the nasty technical types of trails we ride. The GPS stays in the cradle very well. Doesn't budge. So, for less than $20 I was willing to try the camera holder. Got a Canon S3IS that can take over an hour of footage. I'll try it out first ride after it comes in.

I'm thinking of going for a ride on Saturday, weather permitting, and I'll try to take a couple videos of rocky hill climbs and maybe waterholes.

Well, I took the videos on the handlebar mount with my digital camera. Too shaky. I'm thinking of getting a short RAM mount that I can bolt on my helmet. Fun trying but not a good quality video. So, don't get a handlebar mount for your digital camera/camcorder unless you go on really smooth trails.
