Default Homemade ATV tracks for TRX500

Hi, i'm Donn from Estonia. I'm new in this forum. I wanted to share a project that took me more than 200 hours of work over a period of a month and a half to build.

I had a chance to ride HiSun tracks few winters ago and I really liked them. Since I'm always almost broke and quite skimpy when I actually have money I haven't bought the real set of tracks (Tatou or Mattracks or Kimpex) for my old Honda. Thus I decided to give a shot to making a set myself.

Here's a video series of the build:

Part 1:

Part 2:

Part 3:

Part 4:

Part 5:

They turned out pretty nice. They weigh about 45 kg each, but they don't feel as heavy when the ATV is on the move.

Fantastic job and great videos! Now I know why the track makers charge so much.

I guess because of the large Dia. of the main cog it acts as a gear reducer? So the ATV still pulls hard.

Rather because the diameter of the cog is smaller than the wheel diameter it acts as a gear reducer. But yes, it pulls hard!

I took time and gathered the blueprints sheets together and organized them to a set of plans I made available at http://youshouldbuildit.esy.es/blueprints.

I believe it's a good opportunity to get a set of tracks cheap and have something to fill the summer nights with in the garage.
