Hill-climbing is a dangerous proposition even when it all goes well. It doesn't go well for this guy but based upon how nearly he came to getting crushed, it was definitely a success:

Just sitting on his seat rather than at least moving his weight forward.... If he had been laying on his handlebars he wouldn't have flipped it.

 

That could have ended so much worse.

1. Shift your weight.
2. Don't swerve.
3. Don't slow down until you know you've made it.

P.S. If they don't accidentally kill themselves first, they'll probably have arthritis when they get old. Eventually it catches up to you.
