I was at badlands on sunday the 18th and found a rapter to drag race. well we lined up he told me that we had to back up to start in a little gravel(he didnt want to flip).well I let him have his way. well at my guess it was about 400 feet of a race. the flag went down and we were off!!!!! well at the end we all knew who won. but only by a bike and a half. we turnd around and headed back to the finish line and met and shook hands he couldnt belive it. he wanted to try my sc 400 and I could try his rapter. It had some power. but felt half the size of a banshee. wayyyy to small for me.
not crying or bragging. just having fun. Oh ya by the way the guy on the rapter was 125lbs and 5 ft 5. Im 6ft2 at 300lbs. soo If I could lose 175 lbs WE all know who would have won

Congrats on showing what a Polaris can do. Is your 400 modded? I am hooking up with a Raptor this spring...can't wait to race. (for fun)

Did you get the holeshot?

yep it was a great feeling. I have a fully modded 99 sc 400 4X4 by rcr. it was on asphlt but he wouldnt race unless we started off on a little gravel. he said he didnt want to flip over. if we started on the asphlt I think i could have one.the holeshot was a lot of tire spinning on both sides. mybe I should have put it in 4X4 mode.

What kind of mods did you get from Rick. I have just the midpipe, clutch kit and V-force reeds and can take every quad I've raced so far (Banshee's, EX's, Warriors, 250r's and a couple of LT250r's are the only mentionables)off the line. Only the 'shees and 250's get me on top. It seems like once those banshee's hit 4th or 5th they just can't be reeled in. Haven't run into any Raptor's yet, but am sure I'd get the same treatment as from the 'shees.

well here we go

top end pipe
ported
head milled for race gas
flywheel shaved 11 oz
38 tmx carb
delta force reeds
rcr air box mod
aaen roller sec
no oil injection

my top speed is the same as a banshee in 5th gear once the banshee hits 6th gear he will pull away. by that time the race is over. and I won.

Long live polaris!!!

I can't wait to line mine up against those "other brands" now that I have the RCR Stage 1 kit on it. Stock I enjoyed beating Warriors, no problem. Now am gunning for other fast boys and their toys!

I had the same results, twice, racing my friends mildly mod'd Banshee when he hit's 6th he's gone. I'm ported but still run pump gas, only 12:1. So do I need to have 14:1 to beat a stock Raptor?
Thanks

the way I look at it if you and the person on the crapter are the same weight you should be able to take him. I weigh 175 lbs more than the guy that I raced.

I raced a Raptor not to long ago and I took him from the hole and up to third gear. This was in gravel. Those front tires pulling sure make a big difference on slipery conditions. But I regret to tell you guys that after third gear that thing was gone. The Raptor was piped and had a K&N filter. My Scrambler has an HPD trail pipe, aggresive clutch kit, Delta force reeds a bored carb and a roller clutch, all from HPD.
