2012 Gatorboats Poker Run #10. A great excuse for a day on the river, and donating to St. Louis Children's Hospital Cancer Fund.
The Gasconade River in Missouri was low enough this year that it took a bit of technical driving. I ran about 35 miles total. From out launch site up 12 or so miles to the gravel bar where the poker run started. Back down river to another gravel bar to draw cards 3 and four, have a couple cold refreshments, and a little BS. Then back to the start for the rest of the day, and finally the 12 mile run to the launch ramp. Lots of the river could be equated to riding the black trails on Hatfield McCoy. Pretty tricky at times. I had a power trim problem at first with the trim stuck all the way up. Impressive roost, but jacked up steering response that led me to miss a tight turn on a blind curve, and put the Gator on a gravel shoal with only about 2" of water. I can do about 6" if I keep it on plane, but 2" put the brakes on pretty quick! About 30 minutes to dig, and rock it loose, and a quick repair to get the trim at least to flat for the rest of the day. Made the rest of the tight turns fine, and only a couple "bumps" over some short shallow shoals and a couple logs! That's jet boats! and it made for a fun day on the river.



Well equipped Gator. Right down to the gas powered Margarita blender strapped to the rear deck!

My folks took their shoal Runner out there this year, My Dad's part of the shrine club that holds the Shriners Hospital Benefit most years!
