Buying my first ATV , which one?
The best advice I could give is:
Buy from a dealer that caters to the customer!! The dealer makes all the difference in the world. I have read so many replies that state how their machine is the best brand but face it, there are good machines in all brands and then there are the ones that have little problems or turn out to be a lemon in ALL brands. The DEALER can be the biggest problem or the best help!

Hey Scat, I've been calling around looking for prices and I checked that Brewer Tracter Supply in Mount Sterling and they told me $6700 for the AC500 auto 4x4. Your friend must have caught them on a sale or something. So far the lowest price I could find is in Richmond, VA ($6350) if I bought it today. Oh well, I guess I'll keep checking around to see if I can establish a median price.

I don't think I really need anything sporty. I won't use it for much other than hunting. Maybe some trail riding in the mountains but I don't expect to put more than 100 hours on it a year. I did actually find a place in Ripley, W VA (Jackson County ATV's) that had the AC500 4x4 auto for $5999. Best price I've found so far.

Buying my first ATV , which one?
I am in the same boat as yourself, i live in colorado and have been looking for an ATV to suit my needs; just like yours except my animals are Elk that i Bow Hunt, these mountains even whip a young guy if you are hunting. I have been confused about all the different models and told i should really have a manual shift rather than a automatic? Quite a few dealers slam the Polaris, saying they would like them to perform as their advetizing does?? I do know that a Polaris is my choice of sleds in these mountains!!! (catch me and mark as high as i can, RMK 800X159 track. Back to the ATV i want to think that the Polaris is very competitive, i read an article yesterday comparing six different models and thought it was unfair for Polaris when their model was a 335 compared to 400 & 450 the pick was a Susuki, but this atv had a soilid axil and not sure how stabile that would be on ridges and operating not on flat land situations??? Feed back would be great, Polaris seem to dominate this maket and the trails in Colorado.
As far as buying i have found a pawn shop that gets repos from all over the USA, about 15-20 atv's every 3-4 weeks alot of these are new machines and he sells them for $300 to $600 profit I.E.: Polaris 335, 2001 with 102 miles he said he would take $3,200.00 for, seems cheap but think about it he has no investment or floorplans to worry about.
Let me know your thoughts
