Default getting back into the game.

I haven rode in a couple of years. My last was a 1994 polaris 400 sport that was an awsome quad. Now I want something that I have fun on but i want a 4-stroke and I want reverse. I ride mostly trails but have a MX trak near by and sand duens are also close. i have been think about a warrior or a mojave i am going to by a used quad what are my best options. thank you for any comments

well if you are in the 250 to 350 area, i suggest checking out the warrior or 300 ex, the ex is a great and well built quad, light, easy to handle, and rather low price. Warriors you cna find anywhere for sale, very numerous, good quads, bit old technology, bit heavy, but good quads nonetheless.
Now i have no experience on the mojave, but have hard good things, if you are looking at 250s though, may i suggest looking at the z250? they are good quads, automatic clutch, shaft driven, and built by zuki

well perhaps what is your price range? you can find used ex's for around 3500 these days, which is even cheaper than the warrior.

I would say between the Mojave and the Warrior, the choice is hands down the Warrior, in my limited experience, the Mojave is a piece of crap. The 300 ex is a good bike, I agree...You can't go wrong with a Honda.

You should beable to find 400ex for 3000 or under. Would make nice quad plus you can upgrade motor to 440 or 505 later, and it will smoke a warrior.

If I were you I'd do everything I could to scrape up another G for the Z400. If You're a savvy shopper, you might be able to pick up an early 03 Z400 for $4k, and you will be a happy camper (check the frame over for cracks though). If you definetly can't go that route, then sacrifice reverse and get a used 400EX. Go for one of the newer 400cc+ quads vs. the Warrior if you can.

Get the ex, seriously. It would be perfect. The z's only advantage is liquid cooling, it has a 2-3 hp difference on the dyno but is not noticeable when riding. Ex's will be running a long time more than a z400, nothing can beat honda's reliability, and Z's have really weak frames (can be bent with 60' jumps) but it doesn't sound like you'll be getting that much air. Ex's can be found for 3000 if you look. Exs are best at wheelies, can be modded to race, and are extemely comftorable at lower speeds while riding with your wife too. Great suspension, and durability, great all around quads. are one of the best trail rides. Z's are awesome quads, and have the luxery of reverse, which hasn't bugged me very much on the ex. If you way over 160lbs, it's extremely easy to pick the quad up. I'm not bashing the z because I love em, but ex's rule, and are cheaper.

How do you know they will last longer than a z? z's only been out over a year now, has that been proven? if it has, i havent seen nor heard anything of it, and they fixed that weak frame problem, so you wouldnt have to worry about it unless you get an early 03 .
