Personally I feel that the Quality of the Polaris quads are not up to par with the Japanese ones.
Just last weekend I saw 2 Polaris quads that were broken down. Both had the same problem, the lower ball joint had broken right at the lower arm. The ball joint has a very small diameter at this spot and is a terrible design that could be fatal.
The Japanese quads don't have these kind of problems. Yes all makes have their quirks but none as deadly as what I saw on those Polaris's.

Get the 450. Are they are the most unconferable fourwheeler ever the only thing people can find wrong with them?
And after you ride it for about 2 weeks the seat gets softer and if you need there is a company that can add 1 inch of foam to your seat.
For racing the 450 is the one to have. For trail riding it is up to you but i think the 450 is better. But if that was all i was gonna do was trail riding i was consider a z/kfx.
Oh and I got my 450 for 6250 otd. No tax cause i bought it outa of state.

Trailrider500,
I don't take it personal. This is a discussion forum. We are discussing. No prob.
I don't know so much about the tires and axle causing the weight difference.
I would figure that being the case, Polaris would change it to make it look better on paper because they know that most customers are going to change these things anyway whether they race or not.
My .02

from my exp. polaris has been exremely reliable. we own a 92 thats still kickin after years of abuse and little matinance and no engine repairs, o wait it needed a new spark plug. lol. My friends granfather has a 93 again no problems. i was surprised atv television gave them a good report doug stated weve left them out in the rain and cold/snow and they always start right up, we cant say that for some of the other brands. yeah that was actually on atv telli, he was responding to an email.

My step father has a sp500 remington edition. in its few years of very very limited use by people who dont ride more than a few miles a year, and never more than 35mph, the sp has had numerous problems. The spedometer cluster has been replaced 3 times. The 4x4 switch has been replaced twice. The battery has been replaced 3 times, and yes, proper storage techniques were followed. It also is so underpowered that it wont climb hills that a bone stock 350 rancher es 4x4 will. They also have an explorer 300 with some drivetrain issues. Fortunately, most of these things were covered under the factory warranty, but I still dont think they will ever buy another polaris.

a predator is a very good machine but if you are looking for the ultimate machine you would go with the yfz 450, a friend of mine has a predator and he enjoys riding my 450 more for MX and woods riding over his. He says that if he could have bought a 450 at the time he bought hid he would heve never went with a polaris predator...............
