This will be your typical post where I tell you to buy what I bought. Like it makes me feel better or something...???

Get the Arctic Cat 400I 4x4. It comes in Auto or 5-spd. And if you are one of those guys who doesn't like IRS, you can get the ACT and have a cross over type deal.

But get the Cat only if you want one for utility use, like hunting or plowing or riding in really bad terrain. They are not the fastest on the trails, and because of the 12" of ground clearance they sit up a little more.

I really like my rancher (only 200 kilometers) I have ridden my buddies Praire, it's fun too! I can climb better...he can go faster ! His is smoother on the bumps, mine is like a tank ! He burns way more fuel, I can't keep up on hills !

Could go on and on ! In a perfect world I would have a KVR 700, Rancher AT, WR 426, DR 400, Grizzley 660 .

devilon4wheels- i would recamend the outlander 400ho 4x4 or the 330ho 4x4. they have alot of sport . the smoothest ride on the market. dependable 4x4 viscolock traction control and the 400 is the same price as a 400 rancher AT. a top speed of around 61 to 63 after brake in . the bombardier outlander 400 was 2003 atv of the year . the 400 has a fuel range of about 130 miles per tank . one of the best mud busters out there . awsome warenty selectable 4x4 or 2x4 . this bike will smoke a rancher or kodiak or forman it will run heads up with a polaris 500ho and will out run the vinson. on the trails it will stay with any bigbore thanks to it's wonderfull suspension that let's you stay in the throtel. take it for a test ride and you will be impressed.

I agree, that was was decsion, rancher or outlander. I didn't choose the bomb for 2 reasons. The shops I checked always had bombs in getting worked on, and they are really ugly. Plastic scatches really easy.

So, I guess for me reliable out weighs performance. I do agree the bomb out perforrms the rancher speed wise...but I don't agree about the trails. I depends alot on the rider and skill level as well.

Like I said, we need to organize a yearly ride where we all get together and put our money where our mouths are !

Outlander seems to be an awesome ATV. I would suggest it for good old trail riding, but if you wanted to do any work with it the racks are just a bad joke.

devil-
Check into the Polaris Sportsmans. They come wirh engines from 400 to 700, all liquid cooled 4 strokes. They have true 4WD unlike the Hondas and selecting 2wd is a quick and easy as flipping the switch.

Nothing against the Sportsmans, but that is not "True 4WD", more like AWD. There systems works good for most everything, but has a big flaw in the engine breaking. Only the rear wheels will have EBS while you are in "4WD". Sportsman's are good though, as they have fixed a lot of the quality issues over they years.

Look at the eiger 400. Same price range. Auto or manual. Selectable 2 or 4x4. Start in Gear a big help if you stick it and kill it like I did a Honda 450 while test driving one. Those things are pigs when you have to rock it to get the electronic shift in to nuetral. LOL. If you choose the rancher get the Electronic shift, it's real sweet!. Hi and Low range. Fast enough to keep up with the big boys and tough enough to pull most anything! For ride nothing beats independent rear suspension. Look at ground clearence also, Not much on the rancher if I remember right.

And as every one will tell you ride them!!! If the dealer wont let you ride it find one who will. Good luck
