Honda Reliability--fact or fiction?
Personally, I would NOT buy a Polaris based solely on DESIGN, irrespective of reliability! Their bikes seem so CONTRIVED to me. Like some sled builders decided to build something with 4 wheels on it.
I have owned a bunch of Hondas, and several Suzukis and Yamahas. The only "reliability" problem I ever had was with a Blaster.....every weld on the swingarm cracked! All the other bikes have been great!!!

I wouldnt let that be the deciding factor. Find out what type of riding hes doing, and have him learn the differences, in the way 4wd engages. That should be the deciding factor. And that polaris is irs, and honda is solid axle. Both have their plus and minuses, and thats what the decision should hinge on.
If youre buying new...they are both good machines, and should last many years. If hes buying used, thats another story.

Honda Reliability--fact or fiction?
Had an 01 rancher es 4x4 that I got new. It worked as a ranch machine, hunting machine, trail rider, tow bike, mud bogger and everything else. One day it was completely submerged under water. It sat there for about a half an hour. Pulled it out, let it dry overnight, drained the oil and cleaned the air filter and box. Then I put new oil in and it ran like a champ. I loved it and if I handnt needed a larger machine, I would have kept it.
