I'm looking at 2 quads they are both in excellent condition. The first one is a 2002 honda 400ex for $2,700. The second one is a 2002 raptor 660 for $3,200. Which one is more bang for the buck. Thanks for any replys

 

I wouldn't say one is better then the other they are both different.

The 400EX is a great all around quad for MX trails dunes etc and is almost bullet proof.

The Raptor is a power house with more power then the 400ex. But the raptor i think stink at MX related riding but the raptor is a better machine in the woods because it's got reverse which i've found to be really handy.

what it's going to come down to is what style of rider you are. If you are the type that goes b@lls to the walls all the time and is power hungry the Raptor does have a little more power and if you don't like dragging the nose around to turn around in the woods the Raptors reverse is nice.

But then again the 400ex is bullet proof and is a lot less to maintain with it's air cooled motor.

 

Well, I would get the Raptor if I was you. The Raptor engine is liquid cooled, it has reverse, good suspension for a stock bike, and if the bike you are looking at is in good shape, then it sounds like the way to go! [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

well if you like a good handling machine with decent power get the 400ex.....or vice versa with the rapy

 

The 400 ex is a great all around quad...very reliable...good handling...and fun to ride...(cost less also!) but it doesn't have reverse....it is great for the trails and open riding..

the raptor...great low end power...its a beast..tares up the woods...wouldn't take it on the mx..(even though you can...I just don't think it has the balance and geometry for being a good mx quad) and it has reverse....

just depends one what you are looking for out of a quad.

 

If you want a versitile atv go with the 400ex.

 

If u want just a all around badass go with the raptor. if u want a little bit slowwer little less power go with the 400 ex. i hear the ex does really well in the track but every other thing raptor is just awsome

 

I would go with the rappy, if you don't want to kill yourself, go with red. The raptor has awesome torque, could be lifted from the front easy, reverse, surely it is faster, stronger and funner for my needs. Also reliability in my concern is how much you maintain your machine, c hange the oil, oil filter, clean your airfilter, adjust your valves once in a while ect.

 

I have owned alot of machines and honda has the reliability. raptors are very bad for transmissions and clutches. get the honda and use the extra cash for a yosh pipe or something

 

I know of plenty of people running 01 bikes with stock trans and clutches. The clutches have never seemed to be an issue for the vast majority of raptor owners. I find it hard to believe that your information is coming from a wide base of owners, or even first hand knowledge.
