Yea go with a 90. It will last him until he is 12 or so (or 16 if you go the the ATV age limits....uuhhh huh ) and they all have throttle adjusters that you can mess with so he can barley push it in

I wouldn't bother buying one now as they get better every year.Getting him riding some electric powered stuff,trucks,4 wheelers whatever so he gets the idea of how to steer and also the on/off effect of the throttle. It sounds like you are pretty anxious so you can probably go with a 40cc model like the e-ton rascal when he is around 4 if you think he is ready for it.These are very small and have remote kill switches and can really be speed limited until he's ready for a little more.

I would get him a grizzly 125 you can adjust it to go slow and then adjust it to go faster as he gets older. plus it has racks to carry a big a$$ first aid kit LOL. this would save you from having to buy him a bigger one in a couple of years

I wouldn't buy him a quad for a while. Buy a power wheels. (power wheels quad, truck, jeep, or whatever) We have a power wheels dune buggy that has two settings. The child can get used to steering, pressing the gas with their foot and not hitting things. When the child is ready you can take out a screw from the shifter. This will allow the machine to go a little faster. The power wheels only cost a couple hundred.
