DS 650 vs Raptor Need to know of a winner!
#2
Drag race the DS will win.
In MX they both suck in stock form. The DS is more of a Dune machine and the Raptor is a trail machine.
The DS handles better but in tight woods the raptor is much better because it's lighter, narrow and has reverse.
So it depends what you want to do.
If you want to drag get a Banshee.
If you want to MX get a Honda 450R or a Yamaha YZF450 those are the MX machines.
If you want a good all around Machine get a Raptor.
If you want a fast dune machine or one to use in non tight areas get a DS.
I'm going to guess out of the two though the Raptor can be made into a better MX machine then the DS but thats a guess.

Ya, everything blackraptor said!!!...
DS650 will win in a drag race...but its one of the widest quads so it wouldn't do to well on trails...if your a bigger person the ds would fit real nice...very comfortable to ride and fast!! Great for the dunes...If your looking at the 04's,,, they shortened the swing arm...some people says it didn't bother anything but some say it feels a little less stable on jumps or highspeeds.....
Raptor~ Great trail quad....fast..good low end torque...its alittle tipsy but you can overcome that pretty easy....not the greatest mx machine because it really wasn't made for that but it can be modified to race mx...
Overall..both great quads....fast...fun...it just depends on what your going to be doing most...if you want mx then look into the 450 class...dunes....DS....and trails........raptor.

I beg to differ, the ds does just fine in the woods, Ive never rode in woods thick enough to worry about. The ds is only a couple of inches longer and wider than a raptor, if that makes a difference I've never encountered it. To ride the ds in the woods you need to learn how to brake slide and pivot around the trees. Yes I have scratches on my plastic and tires from trees, but I would have kissed them on a rator also. I can't be the only one who feels this way, I think too much has been made of this by people that are breaking trails. The raptor is o.k., but everyone says they are top-heavy, I would think that would be more of a detriment to woods handling than a few inches ,don't know havn't rode with one yet

A lot of the trails i ride both tires rub at times. the Predator can't even make it through. the DS wouldn't have a prayer.
Raptor isn't that tippy once you replace the rear tires and tighten up the front shocks.

I have a 04 DS650 Baja and my friend has a 660 Raptor. Both are good bikes we trade from time to time.
Strange thing is we both like our own bikes for what they are and can do but not the other for what they are and don't do.
A lot of this is preference.
I have raced him quite a few time I have just a bit more speed than his Raptor 660 but at the end of the ride I am the guy who is ready to go back out after a few beers where my Raptor friend is done for the day. The raptor will really beats you up.
The Raptor is a much tighter bike so its more responsive and less forgiveing .... IN STOCK FACTORY TRIM.
I have adjusted my DS suspension for different conditions but its just a bigger bike all around. Which I like for the Ergonomics. If you ride more than say 20 - 40 miles a day the DS is the only way to go. Any one can tell you that.
If you trying to race small tight trails the Raptor might MIGHT have a slight advantage but its so small it really comes down to the riders experance.
Hope this helps... My friend will come around some day and GO BIG with the DS till then I just keep to my self and smile : - )~
