Default How much ATV do I need?

I'm looking to buy a second ATV for my wife and for when friends come over. I don't have a lot to spend but I need something that has enough power to somewhat keep up. I have a few heavy friends (200+) so I don't want to get something underpowered.

I would like to get a Suzuki Eiger but I don't think I have enough money so I guess I'll have to settle for something smaller but I'm not sure if a 250cc is powerful enough. What do you guys think?

By the way, I ride a Vinson 500. Thanks.

How much do you want to spend? Are you willing to buy used?

I would like new but I don't mind buying used as long as what I'm buying is in good shape. I can't see spending more than 3 or 4k though.

3 to 4 range.- Kawa. Mojave, Pol. Trail Blazer, Suz. Z250, Yam. Blaster, AC 250, Bomb. Rally, Honda Recon, Honda Rancher 2x4, Kawa. Bayou 300, Kawa. Bayou 250, Pol. Trail Boss, Suz. Ozark, Yam. Bruin 250, Yam. Bruin 2x4.

The 2x4 Eiger is about $500. over $4000. Maybe you could get a dealer down that far.

The rest are also 2x4's. The Rancher, Trail Boss, and Bruin 350 are the larger quads of the group. I would probably buy a semi-auto 2x4 350 Honda Rancher. It would be a reliable second quad. It depends on what you like. There are a lot of good quads to choose from. The cc range is between 250 to 350 unless you can get a good price on an Eiger.

A Yamaha Wolverine would do the job. 350cc 4by that rides fairly nice and is sporty enough they should be able to keep up most places. I'm debating between that and a Eiger for almost the exact same use. The wife, when I can get her out there, and friends, when I can't find someone to ride with.

my dad has a 4x4 '87big bear and it's a very reliable bike never been rebuilt it's got plenty of power for a 200+ lb rider and not to much for a woman

You should be able to pick up a lightly used Scrambler 500 4x4 between 3 and 4000. Great bike, lots of power and great suspension, True 4x4.
