You should look at the Honda Rancher or Foreman. Where do you live?? If you can drive to Corinth, MS you can find a quad in your price range.. We paid $4999.00 for a Handa 400 Rancher out the door. Go to Lake Hills Motors
Just now I went to their web page. They have a NEW 350 Honda Rancher for $3599. out the door.

Ok, It really don't mean mutch in my opinion about the engine size... It's mostly how it's geared, I've just bought a z250 right out of the shop... not to long ago ... maybe like 2 months... I've raced guys with 400ex's, Etc. With the z250 being semi-auto and has reverse, It's perfect for only 3900 with the best financing ... You might like that... I have no problem to get around, I jump, Climb hills that are almost impossible, No problems... But I'm trading mine in for the new LT-Z450 when it comes in fall... I don't know how the 250ex beat the z250 in a proformance test, There's a drag up by my cabin and I drag with a lot of guys and barley lose... But a short MX Track they get destroyed, but it's whatever you want to do... It's a nice trail bike also.

I started riding last Sept. I was going to start out with a Kawi Bayo 220 until I got some experience. But I found a sweet deal on a Kodiak 400 and bought it. I SOOOOOOO glad I didnt go that small, within a mouth I wouldve hated it. I ve now gone to a Grizz 660 and gave my wife the Kodiak.
My point is you re going to get bored with something that small. Go a little bigger, so when you do get more experience you wont have to buy a new quad again. The 400s may feel BIG now but after a month you ll never notice it. I say go at least a 350 +. The thing about bigger is you can go slower for a while and then when you want go faster. Smaller you ll max out faster and leaving you hungry for more.
If money is the issue, save a little longer and get what you should the first time. A lil patience now will save you in the long run.
