a 400ex would be a great bike

a zuki 400 or one of its clones would be another machine to consider.

I would agree with that and even more so if you can find a new leftover 04 400ex, doesn't have reverse, but the 04's in our area were highly discounted to bring in the new 05 400ex model that has reverse.

Let me say this before Reconranger gets here...

All the 400s are great bikes but if your going into tight tight trails the 400ex is the better bike. The Z400 is also a great trail bike but it seems to do better in the mid-top range and doens't like to be lugged down like the 400ex does.... What kind of riding are you going to be doing?

Hmmmm.. depending on your state, you may not be legally able to buy that larger machine until you turn 16. With that said.. the blaster can be hopped up.... but I have a stick Warrior that can match my son's blaster. Now days they call it the Raptor 350...a decent machine for a decent price. If funds are not an issue, the raptor 660 and the new YFz450 are good choices but just about any 400 class sport machine from an manufacturer is going to give you the improvement over the blaster that you are looking for...

I have to ask though, what kind of riding are you doing? Trails?, MX? mudding ? what? It makes a difference. You may want to consider a 4x4.

Unless you are looking for outright top speed that a big bore sport machine will offer, there are few machines that will run away form a blaster on tight trails. My son has a highly modified blaster, and I had no problem keeping up with him with my warrior.... maybe I could pull him slightly on th etop end, but not by much. The point is, you can spend a ton of $ getting a bigger bore machine, but you wont get that big jump in performance unless you ride where you can wind it out... for most tight trails situations, teh Blaster is just fine.. ditto on the raptor 350.. which is good looking as well; I just thinkyou can save your money for bettr things

Yup I would have to agree with the above poster. I ride a Blaster and I'm just over 200 lbs and 6'0" and my friends ride everything from Banshees, Raptors, Warriors and all kinds of 4x4's. No one can keep up to me on my little Blaster if the trails are tight and wooded, or we are on Rocks, ( I abuse the hell out of it) but once we get out of the technical stuff I lack for power. I bought the Blaster a long time ago when I was poor but I have never regretted it one bit.

Now that I have more funds and were in the Market for a Sport ATV I would get the Raptor or that Yahama yzf? 450 atv.

on another note you mentioned your friend rides a Blaster, When I bought my Blaster my best friend also bought one at the same time but his was red and mine blue It can be a TON of fun when 2 people who are friends ride the same machine, if your new machine is bigger and faster and you constantly dust your friend on the open dirt roads then it's no fun for him and he'll bitch and whine and you'll be riding by yourself more often or he'll consistently lean towards riding the tight twisty stuff to even things out a bit. If your riding another Blaster then you'll both have the same capabilities and will end up having much more fun. A hill that's challenging for a Blaster but easy for a Raptor is fun for no one, you'll spank him and he'll be upset at how "sucky" his blaster is all the sudden.

I would suggest you save the spankings for people who aren't you best friends (or the person you ride with most) and instead spank people who only ride once with you once in awhile
