Default Help a brother out

what would be the best trail/woods bike for me! i ride in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. so we have snow, mud, water crossings, muskeg, and stupid insane hills. i need an all around machine 2wd sport quad that will do the trick. im 5'6 185lbs

i have a 4x4 quad right now and i am getting bored of it because its an auto and the challenges are not the same, i also miss the speed of my RM250

Help me out Plz

Ryan

The Z400 is the best all-around machine currently on the market. Its engine likes to rev, so I pick it for more open trails, or wide open country.

The 400EX would be my other choice. It has way more low end grunt than the Z, and can lug down in the slow technical stuff.

Both machines mod up real well, when you want more power. Handling on either is excellent! As for ground clearance, they are pretty much all around 4.5". Get yourself a good set of full chassis and swingarm skid plates, and a lot of times you can skid over stuff.

Hey TMT I would consider looking at the big 4x4's. The P700 comes to mind, it's not quite as sporty as the Z400, but with the V-twin and SRA, I think it will be way more fun than your current ride. I know it's auto, but it has 4wd with the front locker, so it will be fast and get through nearly anything you're willing to ride.

From what I've found, the 2wd's are fun for the logging roads, sand dunes, wide open spaces and lots of jumping, but in reality, where I ride (in B.C., similar terrain to what you described) a sporty 4x4 is the way to go. Plus if you do any long rides, the 4x4's are usually more comfortable and it's easier to take supplies with you.

This is just my opinion, I think it's worth at least looking at before laying down your hard earned cash.

BTW the price difference around here is about $1000-1500 CDN between the Z400 and TP700, though the TP includes a winch installed.

The industry really needs to come out with true "sport/utes", something along the lines of the Wolverine. The current crop of utes really show their "farm work tractor" heritage! Most people are just trail riders, who may occasionally need 4wd. A light, sporty bike with selectable 4wd is really what a lot of people need.

i dunno the excat measurements but all i know is i had a Recon, a Rancher 4x4 and i always drove my friends Big Bear 4x4 400 bc he liked my recon (dunno y) but now i got this 300ex and im passing up 4x4s through mud (all we have down here is mud and swamp) its so light u can wheelie out of water holes and control its lightweight chassie out of mud holes them 4x4s are to bulky and u can fly through trails in a brezze plus u can clutch ur way out or if you just suck lol Warn makes winchs for sportquads now so you wont have a problem the Z400 is a beast i drove my friends stock 1 a cuple of times they are nice i love them but 400 big bear has no match in power or speed as the 400cc Z
