I'd probably want something a little faster or more sporty than the Recon. I also would want one that has reverse. What other specifics would you guys want to narrow down my search?

And yea, i meant how hard are these things to get approved for? credit is decent.

 

As long as you have good credit,you will get approved through whatever brand you are buying.The dealer has many options for getting a person who may not have the greatest credit approved.The downside is,the lower the list he has to go,the higher the interest rate.My wife is a loan agent for a Kawi/Yamaha dealer.

i just wasnt to sure about how banks were with financing these sort of things. didnt know if they would be harder or if it would be easier since its a small dollar amount.

 

ill try to tell you about four wheelers. there all pretty dependable naturaly you just have to take care of it. your a pretty tall guy so if you got a sport you would have to get at least a 400 i recomend suzuki z400 or kawisawki kfx 400 or mayb even the kawasaki kfx 700. or since you will be in the sand mayb the bombardier ds 650 or yamaha raptor im not sure. but all your friends ride utilits? mayb you should get a polaris scrambler 4x4 get the 500 ho 4x4. that thing will go through the mud great just like your friends utes. and will go faster. so i would say get the scrambler. i recomend a newer one so it is 4 stroke since they will cause you less problems then the 2 stroke. other then that its up to you.

 

i've only got a few friends that ride, and most of their's are more desert oriented, being more of the "sport" style i guess. i just want one that will be good in both terrain (trails, desert).

and i was looking more a 4stroke anyways (atleast i think) 4-strokes are more torquey and are better for hills and whatnot correct?

how much of a price difference are the 4x4's compared to 4x2's? are they more on insurance? how much does these bastards run insurance wise anyways?

also should mention, i liked how the Honda's were somewhat of an automatic. they didnt have a clutch, you could just shift it by clicking up on the pedals. is that pretty much a standard thing?

 

its not completly standard but many have it. your right about the 4 stroke there not as quick as the 2s but they have more top speed. do you want fully auto or not?and how much are you willing to spend. you see its quite a predicament with a sand and trail exspecialy if you were to get a utility. so i would deffinatly get a sport. the best in the sand would be the bombardier 650 that thing flys but its not to much of a trail bike you want to get through mud becuase i wouldnt want to have to be getting pulled out by your freind utes thats manual to so it probably has revers not totaly sure . could be emmbaresing. and since your tall ill give you some sport four wheelers and some info on them first the kawasaki kfx 400/suzuki ltz 400 basicaly same machine different color. almost exact machine. both very dependable and great trail atvs. now these are manual clutch and im fine with shifting its fun for me but if you dont wnat that you dont have to have it. another choice would be the kfx 700 its fast powerfull and big i know you just starting but if you get to small of one you will regret it later. now the 700 is auto. theres hi gear low gear. you jsut put it in one of those and it does the rest for you. all those 3 have reverse for sure. then the polaris scrambler polars would probably be named the must unrealiable four wheelers. i have no comment i myslef dont wnat one well mayb one and that would be the scrambler 500. just because there is really no other like it. like i said its 4x4 and 2x4. wich is awsome for a sport its heavy but nice. it has hi and low just like the kfx 700. i cant make the choice for you but i will try to help. feel free to ask mroe questions

 

Since you are a pretty big guy, I would start looking at the Yamaha Raptor or the Kawasaki kfx 700. Both are great on trails and dunes. The KFX700 is better for beginners. It is more stable and has a shaft drive which means less maintenance. If you want a full on automatic, you need to look at the Polaris line. The Scrambler is a great hybrid machine and owners really seem to like them. It won't be as fast as a full sport machine, but it's definitely fast enough to get some thrills on the dunes or the trails. I have to put in a plug for my Predator. It's just as fast as the kfx700 and Raptor, but it is a more comfortable ride. Great shock package. Head down to your local dealers and sit on as many models as you can find. They are all great machines and all fairly reliable. It's a great time to buy because dealers are about to get the '06 models, so you can get an '05 for a good price. Good luck searching.
