Bruin, Bayou, or a Recon...

Best thing is to let her try all of them and see what she is mort comfortable on. Just sold a Recon and got a Ozark. The Recon is a good machine, only problem I had was the brakes. As soon as the front drums got wet, no front brakes. Went with the Ozark, disk brakes on front and a slighty bigger motor. The suspension has more of a sport bike feel and the wife liked how it looked. Not that much difference in price. The wife happy with a red Ozark, priceless.

The Recon is a sweet little machine, but if you don't need the racks or the big fenders, consider a 250EX. It is just a Recon in sport plastic, but a sizeable 50 pounds lighter and with better suspension, brakes, etc. It will do absolutely everything that the Recon will do (except haul something on a rack or protect you from big splashes), but better because it is lighter and a little bit wider (more stable) so it is easier to handle.
I think the little lady might prefer a lighter machine........I know I do!

I personally would choose the recon over any of the others in the 250cc class beacuse, obviously in the 250cc class you're not looking for speed. The recon is the toughest of the 3. It has the best maintenance record of any of them, and is IMO the best looking. It's a honda, what do you expect other than it to run forever!

Get the Ozark!
I use to have a 220 Bayou many years ago. its A good reliable machine but not as good as the Recon.
My wife has the Recon. It also is a good reliable machine. It handles very well, but has alot of vibration.
My daughter has the Ozark. Great machine. Does everything just a little better than the Recon. Faster, more power, better suspension, handles great.
Get the Ozark. Its the best Quad in the 250cc class. Take it from someone that has seat time on all three.
I havn't heard anything great about the Beartracker except the racks are big.

Hey Kodiakq2.. Take a look at the Polaris Trailblazer. It is very reliable, automatic transmission, single hand braking and easily the most cushy ride of any 250 made by anyone. It has much more suspension travel than any of the others and four wheel hydraulic disc brakes. My wife had looked at all others including the Bayou, Ricon, 250ex... There really is no comparison. My wife is 5'4" and 130 pounds and says she wouldn't trade her TB for any quad at any cost. We are on our third season with the quads and we have had no problems with either quad. We ride most any terrain. We have sand tires front and rear for the dunes.
I hope this helps..
