Default Honda Rancher 400

New to the atv scene, looking at a 2004 model Honda Rancher 400 AT 4x4. I am 6'3 and 270 lbs., would a 400 be powerful enough? I can get it for $3,700 is this a good deal, is this a good machine? Thanks....

I would post this question in the Honda forum, as well.

I do not own one, but they have a reputation for being underpowered on the bottom end, so if this will be a "work" quad, maybe not the best choice (???). Probably just fine for trail riding though. There are not a lot of posts on problems with them, so that is a big plus in the machines favor.

I have the Rancher 350, which has the same chassis. It is a nice chassis that handles well, and at least it isn't a huge overweight monster that the big bore utilities have become.

What tires are on it? If it is the stock ones, it would benefit from some aftermarket rubber. I run ITP Holeshot ATR tires on some light ITP rims, and it transforms the quad into a much more sporty machine!

That is a GREAT price. I have one and love. As far as power goes it moves along well. Certainly not the fastest. I does mid 50's with 200lbs on it.
