Are you aware that the Rancher gets a complete redesign for 07???? New 420 cc EFI engine, liquid cooled, selectable 2wd/4wd, disc brakes, etc. (it did gain a little weight), and the price only goes up $200! This may turn out to be the best value ever, in quad history. Still waiting to see a rider review, however..............

On the other hand, if you can find a leftover 06, you should be able to pick it up for real cheap. You will want to factor in the need to install a Warn 424, however.

Can-Am , Polaris, and Arctic Cat make a small cc 2 person quad, which are very good utility quads

Grizzly 350, no Low range ,.
Hawkeye-300cc no low range also.

I like the Rancher but the Eigher has to many things over it. Eiger vs Rancher

The Eiger has a larger gas tank, motor ,tires ,low range and at least disk brakes in the front. Not sure if the Rancher is still a full time 4wd but the Eiger is selectable 2wd/4wd.

Im I seeing things but is the Eiger less money also!?

Thanks for the input........If Im definately liking the new 07 rancher be great if they would have put IRS on it, but still great update...........Im steering clear of the Hawkeye to much negative things on the board about them......The yamahas price is descent but I dont think it compares with the others..........Im also liking the Eiger too.....

So I guess its the Eiger or the 07 Rancher.........What sways me a bit to Eiger is the all black paint, why cant honda have blue or black on the shift Ranchers, and the Hi-LO and dif lock is of course a plus.

You like 450,diff lock, blue ,low range and IRS? Sounds like a 450 Kodiak or 450 Grizzly to me.

Honda's philosophy has been that if you put a low granny gear 1st on it, you don't need a transfer case (except on the Rubicon....tells me the Rubicon trans really needs the help). One less system to add extra weight. Why have something you don't really need? It's a philosophy I like!

And, it makes some folks feel better if they have "lockers", but the Honda torque sensing diff works just fine, and you don't need to fight to hold onto the bars.

As for IRS, I think it's overrated. I hate the boddy roll that IRS machines have. You do get more clearance right under the diff, but like everything, there are tradeoffs.

I was looking at a 450 for my wife for the same reasons. She test rode a 450 and 700, both Grizzlys, and chose the 700 because of the power steering. She's 5'5' and 120 lbs. How I love my wife.....

I bet the power steering is gonna really help out, the grizz 700 is an awesome machine, but dont think I could afford a flagship model right now........
