As far as the 2wd/4wd thing, you are going to have to go out and check out some trails...hiking if you have to. If there are a lot of big rocks, mud holes, or if you want to ride in the snow, you might need a 4wd.
Personally, I pick the Honda 400EX for trails, and the Honda Rancher when I need 4wd.

I have never had good personal luck with suzuki, but have been alright with the Kawasaki. I have never had a problem with my Yamahas and a few problems with my Honda's.

For tight trails you may want an auto clutch. I used to live in western Mass. and on the tight trials I liked riding a Honda 250EX over a sport quad with a manual clutch. Now in the wide open west coast desert, big bore is a must. If a manual clutch is not an issue then a Warrior/Raptor 350, Suzuki Z400 or Honda 400EX are all great quads, beware older Honda 400EX's don't have reverse (I think it was '06 that they got reverse, don't know how many sales were lost due to that blunder). The Suzuki/Kawasaki 400's are the best performers of your list but the liquid cooling is more likely to get you stranded if something breaks. I'm not saying they aren't reliable it's just more stuff to break and maintain.
