Default Investing in new quad, help plz :-)

I don't think any of the 450's are great trail quads. The Honda and YFZ chassis handle great on the trail, but they all like to rev, and it gets to be a 2-stroke style clutch-slipping fest when you get into the slow, tight, technical stuff.

If your "trails" are wide open and fast, then maybe, but if they are tighter, then the Raptor is the only choice from your list.

The Raptor sounds like a better deal.

I ride, and ride with, several guys who ride trails on YFZs. When things get tight you do have to do a bit of clutch slipping but that's all part of the fun.

And the 450s can't be beat in terms of handling.

I'm actually thinking about a Raptor 700 (not a 660 - ever - my KFX700 handled better) since I'm not relaly needing all the stuff the 450 has to offer.

It looks like you are hooked on the engine on the raptor 700, Have you done any research on the recalls , and owners input.Yes it is a 700cc but the rest of the quad? For trail riding I do not think it is your best choice. raptors are known to have problems with cooling and transmission. Have you looked at the new Can Am 450.</end quote></div>

There are no Recalls on the Raptor 700, I have an 07'. YIYO must be thinking of the older Raptor 660, the Raptor 700 has no transmission or cooling problems. If you don't believe me check out www.raptorforum.com these guys will tell you everything you will ever need to know about the Raptor.

For trails definately go for the Raptor 700 or wait until Honda annouces the 08' 400ex on September 6th, it is also an excellent trail quad. Sorry I have never touched the DS450 but it looks awsome on paper. I thought the same about the KFX450 until I sat on on it, way too unconfortable.
