I will be buying a new atv in the spring and know what size i want (about a 450). The thing I am wondering is that if I want to do trail riding and mudding, hopefully a few tricks will the wolverine 450 work.I just really want to know can it handle mud or should I just go for a full blown utility.

The wolverine takes water easy in the mud, and doesnt have the clearance your going to want. Look at the Cats, they have the high ground clearance, a diff locker, and are well sealed from water. Also the Grizzly 450 is a good one, along with others im sure. But AC would be my first mudding choice.

If you want to mud you need ground clearance. If you need ground clearance you need independent rear suspension. Polaris and Arctic Cat have both. I have never ridden a Cat, but my Polaris was awesome in the mud. As far as doing tricks goes, I wouldn't think either of my suggestions would be that great.

how much mud do you want to ride, how deep? I ride in the creeks around here up to the headlights and as long as I keep a steady throttle and a wake I am just fine on the wolvy stock.

I like the Wolverine concept...but they left to much utility in the mix (like automatic and to heavy). If the mud isn't that deep or that often, it might work.....
