Default liquid or water cooled???

These does not look to be the samething? Which is better?
Which one is which? One cools the oil? Does the other work to cool the block with water? Or is it just different wording by different brands?
thanks

Default liquid or water cooled???

Most of the time, they are referring to a system that cools the engine. Just like an automobile. Can be confusing because the oil cooler is often mistaken for a radiator.

If it's an oil cooling system, it should say oil cooler.

Depending on where, and when you ride would determine if it's better, IMO.

If you're in the desert a lot, then an engine cooling system would be better than just an oil cooler.

As far as I know, water/liquid is just different ways of saying the same thing.

Liquid cooling is great for increasing performance, but as far as making an engine more relibale...not necessarily. I ride desert, and my 8 year old air/oil cooled Honda 400EX is absolutely the most dead solid reliable machine I have ever owned! If my life ever depended on getting somewhere, it is the machine I would pick.

liquid/water cooling is cooled with antifreeze. Other than that their is only air cooled which is cooled with oil(mainly air cooled though.

All my water cooled engines are also oil cooled.

All but one of my air cooled engines (the 90) are also oil cooled.

My trucks are water cooled, engine oil cooled, and transmission oil cooled.

Default liquid or water cooled???

On these low powered ATVs (compared to sleds) liquid cooling seem to be not as important,I have just see to many air cooled with oil cooler ATVs go though He11 even a big bore 600 Grizzly without over heating troubles.

On sleds its different,a 500cc fan cooled will only put out about 40-45hp while its liquid cooled 500cc brother will put out 65-70hp so liquid is a must. A 800cc ATV only puts out about 65hp thats not alot of power for that much cc. I think a Utility ATV thats 500cc or less is fine with just being a air cooled with oil cooler.
