In my opinion a honda 400ex they are easy to learn on and have enough power for when you start riding a little more aggressive and they are bulletproof. My first bike was a 400ex and I am glad I got a bigger one cause I got used to it pretty quick, a small bike you will out ride soon. I should have first asked, how old are you?

the 250 raptor is new. 400 ex's have been out for awhile and the aftermarket has alot for them and they are good quads. you can find some nice ex's and z's. as far as the years go get the newest you can find or afford

i've never rode dunes before. looks like fun though.we mostly hillclimb most of our trials looks like the gncc stuff.i guess it would be like dunes but dodging trees stumps and rocks along the way the fun starts when you come back down the hill
