ATV for florida, sport or utility?
Ok, so i was going to buy my buddies ATV for a really good price, but the deal fell through. (Been sitting at the dealership on consignment for 3 months, after he wants to sell it to me at a good price, the dealer sells it, that basteeed)
So now he got me hocked, and i want an ATV even if i have to buy one from a dealer.
I live in Florida, i would mostly go riding at Croom. I'm big and heavy (read fat, 300lbs). What should i get, a Sport ATV with a solid rear axle (thinking Raptor 660 or 700, 1 to 3 years old) or should i go with a utility ATV with IRS (600 or larger and a little older to keep the price down).
Do they even sell sport ATV's with IRS? How good is a ATV at holding its value? How much can i expect the value to drop each year? There is a 2008 700R on ebay for $4500, is that a good deal?

The Polaris Outlaw 525 is a sport with IRS, and Can-Am makes a Renegade 500 and 800. These are the only IRS sports I know of. SRAs are good if you ride something flat like a race-track but IRS is better on trails where there are rocks, stumps, and bumps. Some people in Florida ride places where even a 4x4 utility has trouble going and a sport would never make it.

You really need to take a look at where you will be riding most - and which type of riding excites you.........
if a 4x4 is needed and you enjoy blazing trails, rock crawling, mud crawling, winching and exploring then a 4x4 is the way to go....
If you like going fast and playing around, sliding, jumping and banging gears and such a sport machine is going to be better for you.....
The Raptor 700 is an excellent machine, does everything well....... cannot go wrong there.....
