Default How many hours vs. miles should be on a atv.

I am looking to purchase a 2006 Polaris 500 Sportsman EFI with 49 hrs. and 435 miles. This eqautes to around 9 miles per hour of ridin on the four wheeler. I know this is going to depend on the type of riding and so forth, but does this sound good.
Also another delema is the 2006 comes with winch, front brush gaurd, rear bumper, Polaris storage box on rear, flat gas tank, and bags that go on the front fenders on each side. Can get it for around 5000.00, it is camo also. I can get a brand new one (green) for around 5800.00 with nothing but the bike.

Let me know your thoughts...........

Sounds like a fair deal. Try and find out why he is selling. Does the quad look like it was ridden hard, or ridden and well maintained.

That is a pretty typical average mph for a utility ATV for most people. Also keep in mind that some ATVs will continue to accumulate hours on the engine clock if the key is left on, even without the engine running. So having more hours and a lower average mph doesn't always mean the ATV was ridden slower, or used in more extreme terrain. It may just indicate that the owner left the key on by accident.

The Can Am ATVs have dual hour meters on them, with a separate hour meter that only accumulates time if the engine is running. I don't think other ATVs have that feature though.

Welcome to the forums Notserp. My miles/hour on the meter is usually about 10 so that sounds good to. If it was a lot less then you know it was probably working or idling most of the time.

Mine is also showing an average of 10 MPH. Mostly tight woodsy trails so that sounds about right.

Thanks for ya'lls input. I was able to find an 08 EFI for 5300.00 out the door. I am going ahead and get the new one for that price. Yea, I got to put a couple of additions on it but it will be new with warrenty etc.
I will update on the new arrival, hopefully if I have time today I'll pick it up.

I'm ready to ride........

thanks again
