My son is about to turn 8 in January.. He has been riding a 90cc Fushin ATV and a Yamaha tri znger 60 3 wheeler for the past 6 months..WE bought the chinese ATv to see if he likes it or not.. I got it for $100 and havent had to do anything with it.

lately he's been riding a few hours each day and getting pretty good..But neither of these are made for jumping. I need something wider.. In a brand name bike a 90 may be too large but I am not sure.

He is about 80 lbs and approx 4 1/2 ft tall.. No clutch preffered.. auto or semi auto is ok though. I prefer 4 strok just for ease of maintenance.

Plans are for him to try racing next year.. Does anyone have any suggestions on what ATv to buy? The local delar has a Yamaha raptor 90 for $2000 brand new left over 2008... Someone give me some sugestions please.. WOuld like to keep it under $2000 ... USed is even OK and so is needing work.


If anyone has one please let me know as well .. maybe interested in a partial trade for the Yamaha tri zinger with less then 5 hours on the TOp end.,carb rebuilt new tires and wriing harness.

 

My kids are older now, so I am not familiar with the current crop of kids quads, but the Suzuki LT80 2-stroke can really scream! There are widening kits for it out there (see James Lucky...wider tires and a-arms). My buddie's kids have them, and they fly and are super stable.

My kids started out on the little 4 wheel Zinger...that thing was a real peach!

 

the LT80 may be a great option for me.. thanks for that link.. I can get an older one and do a full build on it. SInce I injured my shoulder I tinker with ATV's to keep my arm used sicne I cant do cars anymore...some frame gusseting and a built engine could be fun.

 

I don't know alot about the kids quads but I do like the new Yamaha Raptor 90!
