Default ATV for my daughter

well, I greatly appreciate the advice I've gotten here...

I can't seem to find any used major brands around me that are within my budget...or even within 500 of my budget...

so in researching, it appears that vbike has some decent reviews all things considered....and now I'm looking at this one:

IMHO...maybe the 90cc machine is the place to focus on. A 110cc or 125cc is to large for a "novice" 9yr old rider. Not only is the ATV heavier, but the had brake levers...might be out of reach.

Even going with the 90cc...it is recommended for 12yrs or older...never-mind the 110+ cc you are wanting.

Good luck in your search...

Thanks...I was thinking of the 90 originally...but I DO want one that she can grow into...as long as it has a govenor...that's important...this one also has reverse, which will be a big help....she won't be doing any offroading at all...just in the backyard...so I don't know that the weight would be an issue...or would it? I don't know...that's why I asked here...

the brake lever...how far would that be would you think on this ATV? she's fairly tall for her age (4.5 feet and growing every day)

YES...the weight of the ATV is a real issue...especially for a non-experienced rider. So...something to keep in mind.

I read here many times where the brake lever had to be bend closer to the rider's hand...because the kid just could not reach. That is why being able to sit on the machine and size it up with the rider is SO important...IMO.

Good luck in your search...

That's what I'm worried about too...she fits on a 90 Raptor...which is about the same size as the v-bike I'm looking at now...

I'm just concerned that she won't ride it enough to make it worthwhile. I'm going to try to go out this weekend and find a place that will let her test ride one tosee if she likes it

I started my year old out with a used chinese brand 90... no issues at all.. he rode that for 6 months .. he could reach the brake lever fine.. we just moved him up to a TRX90 which is alot bigger ATV.. And he is doing fine.

If you go with an offbrand... Just check the ATv over and make sure everything is tight and adjusted.. I always rode the ATv each time before he got on the bike just to make sure everything is OK.. I still do that with him new honda.

Also another good recommendation is look into 2" wheel spacer.. That will widen it by 4 inches and will dramaticlly increase stability.

JetMOTO and Vbike I have heard good things about both of them. My father has a Roketa and he has no issues except for a bad switch. There are alot of companies that offer free shipping on them.

If I was going to buy one Iwould get it from a dealer and not order it from some other place. When something goes wrong you can take it to the dealer instead of shipping it back to Timbuktu or where-ever.

Very good point...it would be more convenient if I could take it back to a dealer. Cost IS a big issue though. A name brand costs 3 times as much, and until I'm sure she'll make use of it, I can't justify that kind of cost. I can wrench them myself, so the basic issues don't worry me. My main concern now is size, and which knockoff is better than the others. From what I've found, VBike is one of the best
