Hey,
I think a 250cc would be enough power for you to start with. If you jumped it, it would probably break, and you probably won't be able to get parts for this.
There's some info on the bike in this thread: http://forums.atvconnection.co...id/10/threadid/532774
I'm 15, 5'11, and about 190. I currently ride a Suzuki LTR 450, but before that I learn to ride on a Baja 90cc.
Personally, if I were you , I would go out and get a summer job or whatever, and save up until you have enough $$ to buy a better, name brand, used quad (ex. Honda 250EX). These will be a LOT more durable, and you can jump them w/out any problems. They will offer you many more years of fun than a Hi-Bird will.

In the world of new ATVs, you almost always get what you payed for. I've owned one of those china/ Taiwan/ Malaysia atvs, and I'll never own one again. We bent an a-arm and spent 4 months trying to get a new one. Look for an old used 250 on craigslist or something! I got my Suzuki 230 for a Sony PSP and the previously mentioned China/ Taiwan/ Malaysia kids atv that didn't run! And the 230 ran great when I got it (and still does!).
Getting a used one is good for learning the ropes and getting into the groove of maintenance and repairs.
So for the price of a new "hi-bird," I'm sure you can get a pretty nice used ATV.
