I for example don't like rugger band drives, so I don't give those companies that make them any of my money!!! Nice and simple.
There are discounted ATVs like the 660 Grizzly and 500 Vinson that Honda has yet to match in performance,ride and features.

As for reliability, our Outlander 800 has been nothing but bulletproof! No issues at all! Don't forget that Can-Am has the standard 3 year warranty with all of their ATV's, so if anything does go bad, you have full warranty for 3 years!

As for the other suggestions, I need to get a test ride on a Renegade 500/800, and see how they work, I used to ride Banshees/Quadracers etc. so power/speed is not something I fear (I actually quite like it).
I will (in 3 years or so ) need the option of riding 2-up, so that is the only issue with no racks on the Renegade for a seat to mount to, but I could always stick the young lad on teh back of the wife's bike.
