Newbie here coming over from Snowmobiling.
Went to yammi dealer today and looked at a 2009 Grizz 450.
Price = 6300
Free Warn Winch coourtesy of Yamaha
Installation of winch and plow = 150
Moose 50" plow = 462
Total 6912
Tax 483.86
Out the door 7395.86 seems like an OK deal but given the cash back of $200 im not quite that sure. Any feedback?

I see you live in NJ, and we know from lots of posts that there isn't that much riding on public land in the northeast. So, is this intended to primarily be a "work" quad for plowing, etc., or do you realistically expect to get out on the trail with it?
The Griz lineup is indeed more sporty than your average cookie-cutter belt drive utility quad, so it is a good trail machine, but as a work quad I would look for something else! For plowing, might want more displacement????

A 450 in low range will be able to plow anything that your tires get traction to push. I would also look at the 550 because it has EFI. Easier to start in the wintertime. I think that the 450 lists for $6800??? To me it sounds like a fair but not super deal. With the economy the way it is you should be able to do a little better than that. Could you install the winch yourself? That would save you some cost. My X2 came prewired for a winch so it only took me a couple hours to put on the quad. I would think Yamaha probably has a similar setup. Just don't wear rings or jewelry. I touched the engine block and positive battery terminal at the same time with my wedding ring. Took off about an 1/8" of flesh.

That is alot for a 450 no doubt. I might suggest something for plowing that you look for something with EFI as well for those cold start morrnings. It sure makes life alot easy'r
