Hi, im questioning whether or not to buy a 1996 Polaris Xplorer 400 4x4. It just had a new top end done and it needs a thermostat. I've heard that new top ends meant hard riding, and needing a thermostat could lead to internal damage. You can't tell if there is internal damage just from going to look at it. It has a plow and the guy is asking $1200. Should I buy it?

 

One test ride will tell you if its has motor problems, you can ,t hide a screwed up motor. Its either works good or it does not. A 2 stroke of that year should of had its first refreshing by now so the top end job is not a big surprise.

 

I think you'll have a hard time finding a better quad at that price.
