Atv buying question
#1
Hi, will be purchasing a atv in about a month. Uses will include trail riding, hauling firewood and other materials, playing in the snow in the winter.
prefer fuel injection and manual shift for reliability.
Looking at honda rancher 420fm- no instrument cluster?
suzuki kinquad 400 fs-air oil cooled, instrument panel
yamaha bigbear-Honda foreman was considering if I could get a decent price even though carbs.
Haven't ridden any of them since now of the local dealers stock them.
What are your thoughts?
What would be a fair OTD price on these?
thanks

The King Quad FS has been around for a while. I have an 08 400AS that has been quite an upgrade over my 04 Kodiak 400. The KQ has pretty good power for a midsize and rides and feels bigger than the other midsize I have ridden. It does not have a locking front differential. The Big Bear does have IRS instead of the SRA and has a locking front differential. It is good for trail riding, but is really geared for work. It has a really low 1st and 2nd gear and tops out around 50 mph. I would say to get a 2011 out the door for $6000-$6200 would be doing very well. You might look around for a leftover 2010 or even 09 to save some cash (you would loose the FI on the King Quad though).

my 09 rancher fpm has a digital instrument cluster showing speed, gear position, 4wd, reverse. im not sure if the power steering makes a difference in the instrument panel, but i would guess they are the same without it. the rancher's fuel injection is one of those things that spoil you. you expect it to start quick every time after a while, an dit is very nice. it does not have a locking front diffrential and is SRA. it feels pretty sporty with the handling and 420cc engine.
i recommend test riding each quad you are considering. good luck!
