Default Insurance Question?

I will be puchasing insurance for a new 2012 Polaris 500. I am a little confused on exactly what type of insurace coverage to get.

I will be getting theft, fire, ect... but what type of liablility/medical would be sufficient.

The land I will be riding on is my parent's land and is connected to my land. We will not be taking it off of either of these properties.

One thing that concerns me is occassionally we will have friends/family over and they will take it for a ride, I want to protect myself from them getting injured and a lawsuit being filed and/or medical bills. What is the coverage and the proper amount of coverage to get.

Also any other advise on atv insurance is appreciated.

I have a full coverage policy on mine, but The only reason I have it is because when I go on trips to ride in Colorado some counties require it, just like a vehicle. But in your case I would contact your home owner's policy and ask what they would cover since you are already paying for it before I made a decision.

Problem is, their families might get involved if there was an accident. If that happens, it usually mean lawyers too.

Get insurance for the quads, a signed waiver for the guest riders.

get them to sign some sort of agreement that explains the risk and have then sign it to say that they undertsand or some think along the line of that.

its sad days now that people fear friends takeing them to court

You can get full coverage ftom Progressive for about $120 a year. That gives you a lot of peace of mind cheap. I've had several claims and the price is still fair.

It really depends on what State you are in. In Texas your homeowners liability will cover the risk if the ATV is solely used on your premises. I would get comp and collision just to cover fire, wind, flood, hail, theft, vandalism and anything you colide with. I am not licensed in any other state (to sell insurance) other than texas so I cant tell you what they require.

For some reason I thought I paid around $120 last year but it was only $91. I just renewed my policy and it went down to $88 a year for full coverage and I've had 4 claims. They give you blue book value of what your ATV is worth, not replacement cost. For that price I think anyone who can afford to buy an ATV can afford insurance.
