Nice looking machine....and don't forget, they don't make those any longer.. For me, if it was nearby, ( speaking of ME now, not you ), for $1300, it would be mine....LOL. Just because its an LT250R. Check it out really well, $1300 sounds like a very low price ( in my area )....

Oh yea she's goona be mine luckily the guy isn't smart enough to post it on Craig's list he posted it on a much much less known selling site that i use often and i had to dig to find it , would have to wait until the 8th for my next check, but my parents get there tax check any where between now and the 28th so there goona loan me the 300$ btw, do you know of any other atv plastics that would fit on this? Just can't get past the ugly *** shape at the very least ima take them off and paint them red or white and throw some decals on it
Maier should make plastic for it....and a different color. Google them and see what you can find....If the old plastic is in fair to good condition, you might keep it for future use. When/if you ever sell it, will be worth more with the Zuk plastic.....and if the bike is in good condition, you will def make a profit....did you inspect it....ride it?
Though they are both sport machines, the Warrior and the LT250R are very different and built for different purposes.
If you ride a lot of dunes or high speed desert riding with plenty of jumps and such thrown in, you'd likely be happier on the Suzuki. It's faster, lighter, more nimble and more race-oriented.
If you're more of a casual trail rider who wants a sturdy, tractable sport machine that can do some jumps and work up a turn of speed on a trail, the Warrior is likely more suitable. It's not as fast as the Suzuki and it's certainly not a race machine, but it's easy to live with.
I agree with what you said about maintenance, but i'm looking for something quick that i can jump on and hold a candle to other racers if i try out some races, and yea i agree sounds like it could be pretty beat, but the guy claims the motor was recently rebuilt, and it has been professionally maintenanced he says it's in like new condition with of course could be all talk, I'll be sure to check it out well and beat it pretty good on the test ride, here's a pic of it.
I don't see 6k dollars in upgrades in that picture. Stock rims and tires, lower end shocks, old Nerfs, and it looks like the A-arms are stock also. For 1300 dollars, I'd think you could buy a much newer 400ex in equal or better condition. No way will you be able to race that thing reliably without dumping more than it's worth into it.
If the current owner was hitting 60ft jumps with a 30 year old Atv, then I'd think the frame would have more than a few stress cracks, bends and other dangerous issues. Nobody lands every jump and even if you did, the abuse would still wreck a frame after so long. My Friend loves trx250r's, has 3 of them right now and is always buying them to part out. I've yet to see one with a stock frame that hasn't been cracked or repaired in 20 spots. Due to age, these old 2-strokes are no longer cheaper options imo
Ok so i'm considering a honda 400 ex 2002 now it's the one with nerfs, the guy just bought it for 2000$ and is willing to do 1500$ is it well worth that, can you jump these things stock are they dependable?
The 400ex is probably the most reliable sport quad ever made. The design has been the same since 1999 and its very simple (and cheap) to both repair and maintnence. They can be jumped stock, but the suspension is pretty basic so if your planning on racing competitively, shocks may be a worthy investment down the road
With that said, every quad has been treated differently and the only real way to know what kind of shape its in is to give it a full inspection and a decent test drive to make sure it runs right. Shift it into every gear, make sure the brakes work, check the frame and suspension components for bends or cracks, listen for strange noises and check to make sure it isn't burning oil. Also, give the engine a look ever, check for oil shooting out around the head, gasket leaks, any nuts or bolts that look like they could be stripped and check the oil to get a feel for how well it's been kept up with. check and feel everything. You can never be too cautious.
For 2 grand you could get a Raptor 660 that has quite a bit more power than a 400ex. A 400ex is a still a great quad and very reliable. A Raptor is just going to be faster. Might be able to find something like this 2005 raptor 660

I'll probably end up going with the 400 then sounds about perfect for what i need, btw any idea what tires cost for these things it'll need new front tires pretty soon.

My personal favorite front tires are ITP Holeshot GNCCs and Maxxis Razr 2s but they are among the most expensive as well. A great budget tire is the GBC XC Master. It's nearly the exact same tire as the Razr 2, it's 6ply rated and it costs about half what the Razr 2s do. Lots of racers us them, including professionals. I dont remember the price but I think they are around $50-60 a tire vs $100-115 for the Razr 2s
