New Bike and Break in Period
#1
hmm my girlfriend and I are planning on getting new brand new Bikes. She was the Honda 250EX because it's sporty and doesn't have a manuel clutch which would be easier for her to learn on. ANyways, i'm getting either a Raptor or a 400EX (haven't decided, need help hehe)
anyways, she has drove bikes before but her experience is very small and i'm gonna have to hop on the back with her and teach her the ropes etc.
now what i was wondering, i know a new bike need a break in period to extend it's life to the fullest etc. i heard u just had to burn a couple of tanks of gas, not giving the bike hell right away. Now while i'm teaching her to ride, could i just leave my bike running? Go for a couple of hours with her, so i'll have less time to wait on the burn in, or is this in effective and a waste of time? Thanks alot for your help

No! never just leave the bike running! espescially a 400ex! the 400ex is air cooled (im not sure about the raptor) and needs to get heated up during a ride and then left to cool down. If not, just leaving it idling will either cause it to seize up or wil seriously diminish the life of the engine. and you do not just change the oil after 20 hours change the oil filter, check for loose nuts and bolts, and loose chain. not trying to take charge just trying to save you alot of money.
