i need help. right now ive got a '99 big bear 350 2x4. its not bad but i am looking for more speed. im thinking of buying a used warrior but i dont know how good they are. if anyone has a warrior, could you tell me if this quad would be a good choice? i ride mostly fire roads and forest trails with a little mud. i ride aggresively and im hoping to be able to take it on some jumps. the main reason im considering this bike is speed and REVERSE. any help would be appreciated.

i just bought a used warrior and i love it. Its great for trails cause it has reverse and the 350 is real strong. I think its one of the best trail quads out. For jumps, the shocks are good but i dont know how big u are jumping.

Frankly, I had a warrior('93 but they are all pretty much the same) and I got bored with it pretty quick. I wanted a sport quad that had a good 'grin factor' and it just didn't do it for me. Then I rode a 400ex that had been piped and that was what I was wanting. I know it doesn't have reverse but the grins it caused made up for it. I think the warrior is a great quad, it's just not as peppy as I would want in a sport quad. A lot of it has to do with the power to weight ratio with it (average power and heavier weight).

If you have to have reverse then the warrior is probably a good option but just make sure you test ride BOTH first. The one I would recommend is the 300EX. It is pretty much the same as the warrior power wise (it'll lose in topend thought) It is a much more agile quad WITH reverse.

I had a Warrior for years, and I CAN NOT recommend it!! The bike is only about 400 lbs, but it handles like a 600 lb utility. Definitely ride it before you buy, and ride some more modern machines for comparison.

Warriors are great quads. I own an '89 warrior and it has NEVER given me problems. It is the most reliable quad I've ever seen. The only thing I have ever done to it is change the gasket at the fuel suply but that was pretty minor. Also, it has quite a bit of power, I mean, I was neck to neck with a stock 2001 400ex racing it on an mx track AND drag racing it. He came out ahead though by maybe a bike length. Mine is all stock though, just think if I would have had a pipe on it... I highly recemend getting a warrior. It may not be as fast as a raptor, banshee, or a ds650 but it's pretty reliable. My friend just bought a ds and he has 3 rims that bent already and the front shock broke last weekend at the track. Not only that but 2 of the 3 headlights and the tail light already don't work. His machine is only a few months old and mine is about 14 years old and ride it hard all the time and never had a single bent rim or anything.

A Warrior or a 300ex would be good.

Both of them have been proven to be reliable also.
