The engine is back only in the 250 and 300 AC. I have heard only a few complaints with the AC line from owners and most of the time these are taken care by a good dealer. Every manufacturer is gonna have problems. I believe that the AC is as solid as the "mighty" honda in reliability. I don't see any more complaints of AC than of Honda. But the AC excells in features compared to honda, "Bang for the Buck."

I would stay away from Arctic Cat. Not up to the quality and reliability of the big four.

Some of you guys are a joke (450). Never, have I said buy AC, it is the best. Even though, in my opinion it is up there, especialy for the number of years they have been around. I just think that any one looking for a 300, 400 or 500 class machine might be interested in what AC has to offer, because for the money they are hard to beat. I don't know where you (450) get the idea that the honda 450 has more power than the AC 500. I do not believe this at all, even IF the AC were on the weak side, and its not, it has HI/LO range to give many more options to pull with. I would be more than willing to tie my Kawi 300 with HI/LO range to your 450 and doubt you would do much with me. AC builds a rock solid machine, and they seem to actually be intrested in what the customer is looking for. The diff. lock they are dragging on, but I believe it's coming. I'm not trying to start anything with anyone, I just think an informed buyer is better off. AC is not the best sport/utility, but it is an awsome trail/utility quad that is VERY reliable and well backed by a good dealer. You should always check out the dealer to find out how they treat their customers. Happy trails

2003 Kodiak! Selectable 4X4 / 2X4, locking differential, great automatic. Go with the new Kodiak. Good value for the $$$.

If were talking value for the money, The Eiger @ over $1000.00 less is a good value. As mentioned, it outruns my Kodiak low to mid range and the 450 from what I've heard is not noticeably faster then the 400. But with the Kodiak you get water cooled and diff. lock. I heard someone say the new Kodiak is $7k, that's overpriced if it's true. The Suzuki is about $5k.

hahahahaha. a 450 has a lot more power than your bayou, no offense but it's a little outta your league. the mags all say the 500AC is sadly underpowered. it must be cause bbertman can't turn 2nd gear with his big outlaws!! my brothers 450 can!!!

Laugh all you want... I know that if my 300 can hold its own with the heavy polaris 500, that it would do at least as well with your 450. I think you probably have enough sense to realize that gearing plays a part in pulling, with the hi/lo range of my bayou it can pull anythimg it has traction for. If it doesn't pull it it will dig four holes. The type of mudd will make a huge difference in pulling big tires in second gear. Is bbertram in hi or lo range and what type mudd were he and your brother in? I realize they were not together here, that is why your comparison doesn't work. Unless your brother is in the same mudd bbertram is then you can't compare.
