2004 330HO Battery so hot it was steaming
#1
I'm hopeing someone can help. My guage pod will sometimes read fail and my low beam headlights won't work, then my battery started to get so hot that you could hear the steam whistling out from it. I asked a dealer about it and he thought that it might be the voltage regulator?? I brought the battery in and had it tested and it was fine. Just wondering if it might be something else I can check before I bring it to the dealer. Thanks.

Check the battery voltage, with it running.... Hook up the volt meter, rev the engine & note the highest voltage... if its much over 14.7 its overcharging..... replace the regulator..
also, check to make sure the battery terminals are clean... & make sure the vent hose off the battery isn't plugged.

Would overcharging by its self cause the low beams not to work and the guage pod to read fail?, Or does the overcharging mess up the voltage regulator which in turn causes these problems?
