Default Speedometer took a dump. Now what?

Anyone know what causes the speedo to go out on a 2007 Outlander 400? It was working last time I rode it. Parked it for a few weeks, go on it and now the speed and miles dont register. Tach, gear range, etc works, though.
I remember on my Polaris is was a small magnet on the disc brake that needed to be replaced when this happens. I swapped it out for a used one off eBay, a $20 and 10 minute fix. Hope this one will be that easy. Thanks in advance for the help.
